Pikes Peak Ascent Video Report, ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and MUT Running

August 25, 2014 | By | 5 Replies More

Instead of writing a race report/ blog post about the Pikes Peak Ascent WMRA World Mountain Challenge I’ve decided to do a video VLOG entry from my YouTube channel, Vo2max Productions instead (mainly because I am lazy and I like making videos a lot more than writing!). Here you’ll also find me addressing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, what race I’m doing next, and how finding FLOW is about finding happiness in life. Thanks for all the support!

First and most importantly, thanks for setting a good example for all of us on the ALS Challenge, and I will accept! I’m making my donation today.

But, wow 100 miles, Sage! Floored to hear you’ll be taking that adventure on. There are so many incredible athletes right now moving up in distance, and it’s great to add you to the list.

As you mention profile and terrain as key factors in race prep, I’m curious if you’ve been out on the Western States course in the last couple years, or plan on heading out previous to race next year. I gotta believe that course really works to your strengths as a runner.

One last question- do you feel you’re going to change much of your training moving up in distances? It seems like you have a good mix already of intense speed/interval work and longer runs. Especially considering your race schedule.

Nice vlog! When you are done reading Flow, check out The Rise of Supermen: Decoding the Science of Ultimate Human Performance by Steven Kotler. It brings a lot together and is an entertaining read.
    Happy training!

Great to hear! Thanks for all the support and nice racing!

Hey thanks for much for all the support!

I do think with Western I would go out and tour/train on the course (if I choose that one). I think Rob Krar has shown that even with only 25-28 mile long runs (not even back-to-back) you can do well at 100 miles. So I would do more of those, and some higher mileage but not change my training all that much. Thanks for your support and best of luck with everything! Glad you hear you donated to ALS as well!
